Citizen Press Release: Sign the Petition to Protect Findlay’s Future

The City of Findlay is moving ahead with a $30–$40 million Downtown North River Development Project that includes the transformation of Anchor Park and 19 acres of public riverfront property.

This plan is being pushed forward without a public vote, without full transparency, without going out for a bid, and without guarantees that the land will be cleaned to the highest environmental standards.

We believe that the citizens of Findlay, not just a few officials, should decide whether this project goes forward. That’s why Findlay Citizens for a Safe City (Find on Facebook) has launched a ballot initiative that will give voters the final say on whether to approve any new development or major renovation in this sensitive area.

Our petition requires that no public funds be spent on development, construction, or engineering for the Downtown North River Development Project without a public vote. It also ensures that any future work is done safely and responsibly, with a cleanup held to a residential environmental standard. If you are a registered voter in one of Findlay’s seven wards, please take a moment to stand up for your right to vote on this important issue.

You can sign the petition today at these locations:
Clearwater Pool and Spa – 423 N. Main St., Findlay (Next to Archie's)

The Butt Hutt – 1928 Tiffin Ave., Findlay (In front of Hobby Lobby)

Best Little Hair House – 501 N. Main St., Findlay (Next to Salvation Army) Volunteers will be available with a valid initiative petition for you to sign.

If you would like more in-depth information or have questions, you may attend a Community Learning Session  with an environmental expert at 6:00pm at the Findlay Library. Two sessions, same content: July 10th or July 14th

Why Your Signature Matters: This initiative protects taxpayer dollars from being wasted before the public has a say. It ensures environmental cleanup is done to a safe, responsible standard. It reaffirms that Findlay belongs to its residents, not just its administrators. Let’s bring accountability back to local government. Let the people decide. Sign the petition today.
