Perry Village Mayor Resigns Amid Controversy?

PERRY - On Thursday, May 14, the Perry village council met for regular session with a shift in leadership.

Though no formal announcement was made on the transition, council member Elias Coss was noted as 'acting mayor' and President Pro Tempore on several agenda items and on the official village website signifying Mayor Jim Gessic has vacated the post as mayor of Perry village.

While there was no formal announcement or agenda item to accept a formal resignation as a matter of record, the Perry village council did announce two separate special council meetings where village leadership would be meeting behind closed doors just one week prior to discuss matters related to potential 'dismissal' of a public employee or official.

the vacancy comes amid controversy surrounding the proposed data center project in the village and the public outcry over revelations of Gessic signing a non-disclosure agreement with the developer.
